Hello

I got a question of my 640-821 exam which asked

Which port can be used for a WAN T1 connection?
Answer could be AUI BRI Console Serial

I selected serial but my friend reckons it is BRI.

Can anyone help?

I failed the exam by 2 questions so I am trying to eliminate the wrong ones.

Thanks

The answer is indeed serial, bri is for an ISDN 64K connection. T-1 can either be on a serial interface such as a Wic-1T (althought this is T1 Speed CCT not RAW T1)or on a T1 PRI interface. Perhaps the other answer was PRI and not BRI?

Visit for free Cisco rack access.

The correct answer is serial.

An ISDN BRI circuit can be used for WAN (usually as a backup connection) but is only 144 Kbps and connects to the router via an RJ45 connector.

A T1 circuit is 1.544 Mbps and will connect to a CSU/DSU.
The CSU/DSU will then connect to the router via a DB60 serial connector or a "Smart Serial" connector.

Hope this helps...
