61C not answering my new modem

I am working with a Meridian 1 option 61C. I have recently accuired a laptop to use for remote administration. When I try to dial in using hyperterminal the SEB rings, my laptop trys several handshakes and then I get a no answer message in hyperterminal. When I go back to my office desk top I can dial in with no problem. The modem on the laptop I am using is a PCTEL 2304WT V.92 MDC, the modem on my desk top is V.90. Can anyone offer some guidance? Any input on this topic will be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried to us the modem with some thing else? You may not have the right drivers for the modem you are currently working with. Try using a different modem with the lap top.

I have tried connecting to other modems and it works fine. Thanks for the input.

Hi See what terminal you are using eg VT100, if it does not work then try forcing your modem to to connect to the same speed as eg Opt61 TTY 9600, modem setting ATS37=9(9600) this depends on the modem you use so please check the AT settings. Hope it helps. MD
