Hi

I'm installing a 6160 on a Dell R610 server connecting to a 3300MXE. It seems like this server does not have an onboard sound card.

All my ports answer and follow the call flow but no recordings/messages are played.

Can IQ work with no sound card?

This was a rebuild on a new server so all programming on the old server was 100% correct and all messages played fine.

IQ does not require a sound card
You would normally connect to IQ via a web browser on a PC that does.

If you want to listen or record sound files on the IQ I would suggest buying a cheap USB sound card, as most servers do not support sound cards and the ones that do are very expensive.

I normally map a drive to the IQ server from my PC and I can then listen and edit the files and then save them back on to the IQ server

did all the messages get moved to the new server and placed in the same locations?

I'd tell you a UDP joke but I'm afraid you won't get it. TCP jokes are the best because you always get them.

Just had a thought
Did you convert all your wav files to u-law?
If they are a-law they will no longer work

Use NCH switch to batch convert all your wav files to u-law

All files were moved to the same location under mitel networks\6160\voice\English US

All audio files are in U-law format and it does not even play the default auio files (na.wav)

I have looked into the log files and can see that the correct wav file get's selected and says it's playing it. Makes an RX and TX connection.

I have deleted and recreated the IQ ports on the 3300 and they register. I have noticed in the event viewer logs for IQ that there are quite some errors on the ports. They keep on disconnecting and reconnecting. Any ideas what might cause this?

Next step is to do it on a flat network to eliminate vlan routing issues, even though I can access the Mitel from the server and the vlan routing is working fine. It's worth a try i guess.

After that i'm all out of ideas.

Are you using remote desktop to configure the server?

If so, you must make sure that resources are maintained at the server (And not transfered to the remote desktop)

Hi

I have only made a remote desktop session from the server to the old one to copy some backup files.

How do I check this to be safe?

The 6160 IQ needs to be on the same physical subnet as the 3300 or it will not work correctly maybe this is the reason you are having problems

The remote desktop is only an issue if the session is active.

Before you launch RD. Select Options, Then select TAB for Local Resources. Make sure that Remote Sound Card option says, leave at remote computer.

Just an update as to what caused the problem.

The server has 4 Nic's and just by disabling the other's fixed all my issues. Still running the IQ on the data Vlan. All working 100%

Also make sure that TOE is turned off in both the BIOS and the NIC configuration
TOE is TCP Offload Engine
6160 does not like TOE as TOE can create 2 media streams which will result in 1 way audio
