I recently installed a used one of these on a 2 line system but line 2 is much quiter than line 1. If I make it a 3 line system and connect second line to line 3, both line sounds fine. I know something is wrong with the 616 but is there anything I can do to fix it myself?

Put a piece of tape over over the line 2 port so that it cannot be used, then go into programming and rename line 6 or some other unused line to LINE 2 and make programming adjustments to use the new line port as line 2.
UNLESS YOU NEED ALL 6 LINES.
