We have several Norstars running on 4.1 software with no real issues....is there any advantage ( new features, etc..) to consider upgrading to 6.1?
Thanks As Always
Tom
Support for 3 T1 spans is another biggy for some.
Also you can network to an M1 for centralized mail or another Norstar using point to point PRI circuits.
SWCA is cool.
The T7316E and KIM are the real enhancements for most.
No big deal though if you already have a lot of M series terminals.
The KIM's are great! Everytime I install one I that God for them. No more pulling the reception desk or cube appart to rewire the jack for two pairs instead of one. Just plug them in and go. And no worrying if a power supply was included with the refurbished KLM.
I have a customer running 5.0 xc and they need the third T1. Will I have to reassign all the target lines or do they automatically change from 145 to 157 etc. When I upgraded them to XC all i did was power down the switch pull out the 5.0 and insert the xc 5.0 with no glitches.
Also, with the new 6.1 I haven't been able to get the handfree button to grab pool a, I assigned pool a, prime line pool a and auto handfree like you would in 5.0. When the button is pressed it gives me intercom and then I must dial 9. This customer must dial 9 from the phone company and they hate dialing 9,9 and the number.
Use feature *82 to assign auto dial to the handset.
Try programming an autodial using feature *1 9 and labelling as an outside line key.
This will seize poolA and bury the 9.
To upgrade power down and insert the pcmcia for 6.1 to upgrade.
The target lines will start at 159 I am unsure if you will have to re-assign.
There is a SWCA manual included in the 6.1 software package.
Upgrading to 6.1 will re-assign line numbering 1-30, 31-60, 61-80 etc for analog lines and 157 up for target lines. Remember if you have voice mail, the AA has to be changed to the new line numbers.
6.1 acts the same as earlier versions of MICS. Auto HF and prime to pool will select a pool trunk, not i/c.
Wannabe.... are to trying on a T7316E set? The HF key has moved to its proper location below the volume bar, not on the bottom of the key column
