Just updated my applications appliance to 6.1.22, VM Pro 6.1-17. Previous VM Pro was on 6.1-15.

Upgrade went fine. I rebooted the server, and went to log into voicemail, but no prompts, just dead air. VM Pro logs were full of errors like this:

Feb 28 14:23:04 IPOAPPS vmpro [2554]: a47a4b90: Failed to load sound bite /opt/vmpro/Wavs\enu\MC_02.WAV [uLaw], error is Error 2 (No such file or directory) opening file "/opt/vmpro/Wavs/enu/MC_02.WAV"

I looked in the opt/vmpro/Wavs folder and none of the language folders were there. I uninstalled the vmpro-wavs-enu package from webcontrol, uploaded the RPM from the install DVD and now the ENU folder is back and my prompts are back.

Don't know if I did something wrong or what. Also, I can't log into the server using putty with the root password anymore. Can't use winscp either, but the root password works when logging directly into the server via KVM. I can get into putty using the webcontrol login and switching my way through until i get to root, but can't figure out how to do the same in WinSCP.

Anyone else upgrade theirs without incident? Maybe I tanked mine in the past when tinkering.

My previous trial upgrades of 6.1 went fine. Stuck the DVD in in the drive, rebooted and let it do it's thing.

Upgrade to 7.0 trial went ok too, but I too have the same issue with logging into the server via SSH. Console direct on the server is fine but won't let me on remote. Not tried the webcontrol user though. I've logged it with NPI toda so will wait and see. Maybe the latest 6.1 and the 7.0 has a fault in common?!?!?

I don't know about the upgrade bur i know about ssh being locked.

Login on the server.
Go to /etc/ssh

Type this:

vi sshd_config

Go to permitlogin no

Go to the word no and press the x to remove it.
Press insert and type yes
Press the escape button and type :w
Then type :q to quit.

Then type this command:

/etc/init.d/sshd restart as root.

Now ssh is enabled again.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

I'll try this tomorrow

Star for the SSH fix. Worked good. The last upgrade I did on the application server from beta to GA worked fine. This one acted the same way but the language RPMs didn't automatically install. Not a huge problem to get around, but annoying to say the least.

Jamie, npi will tell you that it is blocked now because of security risks :)

[sarcasm] LOL - isnt the point to SSH to increase security while you hack up their lovely app server via the console? [/sarcasm]

The biggest supprise to me about the apps server is they state, quite happily on the KB, that you can use the server for other applications as long as you are comfortable that they have no impact on the IPO Apps. My cop out answer of "well, you've got other apps on that server. Take them off and then I'll come take a look" won't work any more!!!!

As a tip Nano is an easier to use text editor compared to Vi (although no where neare as sophisticated to those who know how to realy drive it).

Avaya are technicaly right about connectingas root being a security risk, it is better to log on as an ordinary usere & then escxalate to root only when necessary, but Avaya have shot this down in flames by running the VMP & oneX applications as root!

I do not Have A.D.D. im just easily, Hey look a Squirrel!
