When registering a Nortel 1120 (sorry for swearing) to the system it error's that the number of non avaya ip extensions exceeds the number licenced, but the docs say it uses an Avaya endpoint licence and it also shows in SSA as using an Avaya enpoint licence also no error shows in System Status just Manager. Phone works ok.

Just a heads up for people

honey, i fried the IP Office !!!

Sarcasm, it's only one of the services I offer.

You only need an Avaya IP Endpoint license? In the application notes it shows it needs a 3rd Party Endpoint license.

"The Avaya IP Office Manager screen is displayed. From the configuration tree in the left pane,
select License > 3rd Party IP Endpoints to display the screen in the right pane."

Can you confirm which license you used?

Thank you.

I confirmed it by checking SSA, it says 1 Avaya endpoint licence in use and the handset functions correctly no others connected, there are no third party licences installed. In the 6.1 delta training on Avaya learning it also says it is supposed to use an Avaya endpoint licence, it would be a pricey way of supporting Nortel handsets otherwise :)

I noticed the same message in Manager on my machine after loading 6.1.6.

I wondered the same thing about the license it uses. I pulled off my 3rd party endpoint licenses, rebooted, and the 1140 came back up and is using an Avaya license. I had an 1140 running in release 6.0 and it did use a 3rd party endpoint license then.

I don't like the way you need to either press send after dialling an extn/number or dial on-hook then go off-hook to dial, I can see some winging coming from that :)

You can edit a file called dialplan.txt for the Nortel 1100/1200 SIP phones that will send the call automatically after a digit match has occured. Below is the text from that file that came with an older version of the Nortel SIP firmware.

Still a pain in the rear though.

/* ------------------------------------------- */
/* A simple dial plan */
/* ------------------------------------------- */
$n="yourcompany.com"
$t=1000
$s=0

%%

/* DIGITMAP: Operator call */

(0)|(0)# && sip:$$@$n;user=phone &&

/* DIGITMAP: Help Desk */

(411)|(411)# && sip:$$@$n;user=phone &&

/* DIGITMAP: Emergency call */

(911)|(911)# && sip:$$@$n;user=phone && t=100

/* DIGITMAP: Private intra-location call, no access code */

([^0496]x{3})|([^0496]x{3})# && sip:$$@$n;user=phone &&

/* DIGITMAP: Public local call, access code 9 */

(9[^1]x{9})|(9[^1]x{9})# && sip:$$@$n;user=phone &&

/* DIGITMAP: Private Intra-company Call, access code 6 */

(6[^10]x{6})|(6[^10]x{6})# && sip:$$@$n;user=phone &&

/* DIGITMAP: Public national call, access code 61 */

(61x{10})|(61x{10})# && sip:$$@$n;user=phone &&

/* DIGITMAP: Public international call, access code 6011 */

(6011x{7,15})|(6011x{7,15})# && sip:$$@$n;user=phone && t=8000

Its a known issue in 6.1

CQ46125 Error in Manager - Nortel 11xx and 12xx Phones causes 3rd party endpoint licenses exceeded.

When i see that dialplan text file then i am statring to dislike those phones already :)

Some of the higher ups here wanted to convert a customers BCM to an IP Office and reuse the customers 1100 series phones. Then they saw the functionality you get with those phones on an IPO. No better than an analog phone with a display. Maybe it will get better someday, but its an expensive phone to have on your desk for what you get out of it.
