This is the problem I am having..I installed a norstar in multiple site that are setup with PRI with Centrex features..

The 6.0 software has a feature to do a link option on the PRI but I have no idea how to program this..can anybody help..

I tried all kind of different programming but doesn't seem to do the link feature back to the CO..

Archie

Link feature works on analog centrex lines ...in PRI all the signaling is on the D channel and i dont htink there is a way to do a link on the PRI

I know about the analog centrex feature, but there is a feature on the new 6.0 software where a call goes into voicemail and from there grabs a PRI line that has centrex and from there transfer out to another office...

Archie

Oooh that's slick. No I don't know but I am anxious to hear an answer as I need that feature as well.

me too ..could you explain how this works ..is this an enhancement in 6.0 or is it a spl software?

Archie, What are you trying to do, Is it that you are trying to use a centralized AA and V.Mail. In that case do you have the MCDN keycode. I have networked to offices in Different Cities and found that you need the PRI keycode and the MCDN keycode then I route all calls in and out of 1 office. I Hope this helps a little. KDB

What I am trying to do is the CO has an option for PRI service to get centrex features on it..From there I am trying to do the link transfer from the Voicemail CCR tree to another office without tying up 2 lines..Basically it is almost like analog centrex service but with PRI..

all the sites I am trying to connect is going thru the same carrier but trying to figure out the programming to do this in the new 6.0 software

Archie

do you know what kind of CO switch is that and what protocol is being used?

the protocol for the service is NI2..Not to sure can they set up PRI with centrex features..I have never heard of it myself but the CO engineers said they can do it..

Archie

If it is some sort of proprietary protocol, then the nortel system may not support it ... pls let me know what switch is providng the PRI (like 5ESS, DMS100 ...) i know a person in nortel, who used to work on CO switches i'll send a email and find out if he knows anything about this

The CO switch is a ATT 5E switch which is set for National NI2 for the PRI..

i'll forward this info and see if he can help this time too ...

I've never seen a "Flash" work on a PRI and I've always been told it could not be done, if you do find that it works I'd be interested to hear it.

Why does it matter if you tie up a second line? I am assuming you were able to get it to work the usual way. ie: call comes in to CCR, user chooses option and then call goes out another trunk to other site.

I have heard, that, 'in theory', it can be done. So, I too am anxious to find out.

It could be undesirable to Tie up a second line for a host of reasons.

For example, I am at an airport and we have an Automated Information System, (CCR) and a good number of our options allow the callers to transfer to the various carriers and car rental companies. I don't know if you have ever called an airline directly, but these calls can easily last 20 to 30 minutes or more. We do not want to tie up our resources in this manner.
Currently we use several PRI's for all of our outbound traffic from 5 MICS networked together. We only have a few analog lines on each KSU as backup.
There are other reasons as well... Let's just say a lot of things could be made more cost effective and efficient if we were able to get Centrex type features on a PRI.

So please do keep us updated archie and senk1s

YOU NEED TO TALK TO YOUR LOCAL TELCO AND ASK THEM WHAT THE CODE IS FOR "TAKE BACK CALL" ON A PRI, *7 IS ONE BUT NOT ALL CO'S ARE THE SAME. THIS IS NOT A STANDARD FEATURE FOR THE PRI, YOU NEED TO ASK FOR IT.
