Well, I learned this lesson the hard way and had to format the SD card, then upgrade to the latest release, and push the config.

By doing this, I lost all greetings.

What is the process to follow in order to not lose your greetings once the IP500v2 has deemed your .cfg file read only?

I have a few systems out there with 6.0 (8) and in case this happens again when I go to upgrade, I'd like to know. Thanks.

Easy!
Pull the card and copy the completed SD card.
It is in read only mode, it is not broken.

The greetings are in the folder dynamic -> lvmail.

honey, i fried the IP Office !!!

Copying the completed SD card would also copy over the config.cfg file marked as 0 size, correct?

Would I copy the complete SD card and just replace that file with the correct config.cfg file?

Yes you can but I would only copy what is needed.
If the ipo is still running then it will write the config on the SD card after a reboot.
you could also open the latest config and save it as config.cfg and copy that to the SD card.

When I ran into this issue, what had happened was:

1. Merged a configuration and IP Office defaulted
2. Attempted to push multiple backup configurations multiple times, rebooted, and IP Office was still stuck at the back up configuration
3. Formatted SD card
4. Recreated SD card
5. Upgraded load from 6.0 (8) to 6.0 (18)
6. Pushed good configuration to unit
7. Rebooted and came back up with good configuration

Are you saying that copying the good configuration to the SD card through a card reader then upgrading the load immediately instead of formatting and upgrading would have worked?

The card is in read only mode and the config can not be changed because you cannot write it.
Take it out and put it in a card reader.
Go to the folder system and then properties.
Then unchek read only.
After that recreate it with manager or upgrade the normal way.

When it is in read mode it will not except any backup or change at all.

So...unticking the read only attribute, restarting the IP Office then upgrading before the bugger turns the file read-only will fix the issue?

You need to take the card out of the system.
Just be sure you have a config and it won't go wrong.
