I have a location that is currently using 56k data modems on analogue lines.

Thinking of putting in a new IP Office 500 with either SIP or T1 trunks and analogue ports.

Has anyone had experience trying to push data through the analogue ports on the IP500 over T1 or SIP?

I usually prefer to just use analogue lines striaght to the modems and bypass the PBX but without the modem lines there aren't enough lines to justify moving to a digital trunk.

Some modems will have trouble with the lower voltage of a PABX, we have used modems no problem with T1/PRI lines, I am pretty sure it will be troublesome with SIP as even faxes cause headaches.

I have had similar experiences with faxes and credit card terminals. They work fine on a T1 and only work sporadically on SIP or dynamic T1's. The problems seem to vary by carrier and location. I would avoid using SIP or dynamic T1's for any modem/fax/credit card terminal.
