I have followed the guide and managed to make the consoles resilient, the failover fine, but they don't failback to the primary unless i shutdown the 5550 software and open it again it will the register back to the primary controller.

Do they auto-failback or do you need to do this?

Here is what the Manual says:

If the console is in service on its secondary ICP and its primary ICP recovers, it rehomes to its primary as soon as it becomes idle; however, if the console is a designated emergency-call monitor and has unacknowledged emergency calls, it will remain on the secondary ICP until all emergency calls have been acknowledged, before failing back to its recovered primary ICP.

The 5550 IP Console is considered not-idle if it meets any of the following conditions:
• The console is in talk or dialing state.
• The console is an emergency-call monitor and there are unacknowledged emergency calls in the system.

Thanks, i also read that and should have said so in my first post, if i am honest if a console is not a designated emergency call monitor by default, i don't know how to do that so that is not the answer, and i was watching it for around 10-15min when it was idle and it did not failback to the primary.

Apart from following the instructions in the resilency guidelines i take there is not something i missed, and that they should indeed failback to the primary automatically?

Thanks

I would interpret the documentation to say that it should failback. That being said, this would not be the first instance that the documentation is wrong. I would also note that I have observed normal sets not failback for unknown reasons.

Bottom line, if your programming works to the point that the console fails over as it should, I cannot think of anything you might of missed that would prevent failback.
