5550 IP console replacement

I have a 5550 which keeps randomly losing its connection to the PC. I would like to swap out the 5550 for a 5212 or a 5330, as I think the 5550 itself is at fault.
Could you please advise how I achieve this, and what configuration steps I need to take?

delete the 5550 from the console menu and create a new user and assign the directory numbers and phone type

you can't use the console software using the other phones specified
