5550 IP Console - New Extensions not showing up

After creating a new extension, the new extension isn't available in the 5550 IP Console until I add the new extension as a BLF somewhere.

In my simple way of thinking, I shouldn't have to program a BLF so that the 5550 console can be made aware of an extension. It should do it automatically.

Is there an option that is not enabled on the 3300?

Thanks

Ron

Just Add the extension to the remote BLF form and it will appear on the Console. No need to create BLF's anywhere else.

Best Regards

OK. It eliminates the issue of remembering where I added the BLF.

I was just hoping that the console would be made automatically aware of the new extension without any additional effort.

Thank You.

Ron

Hi Ron,

Totally Agree. Don't see why the remote BLF form is not automatically updated with every new extension. Seems a bit short sighted to me.

It's just another thing to remember each time you add an extension!!

If you use the Remote BLF for this purpose be aware that OPSMan will not be able to Change Resiliency, Delete an Extension, or move an extension until the Remote BLF is removed.

Where did you get that information, I have just tried this on one of our sites that have all extensions programmed in the Remote BLF and ops man will happily move, Delete and Change Resiliency. Are you sure the issue you have is not related to one at the crappy Release 8's UR3 or UR4?

Regards

Everytime OPS tries to delete an extension for the purpose of moving or resiliency change and there is a Remote BLF it fails. The reason given is that the Remote BLFs must be removed first.

Are you suggesting that this has been changed in UR5?

The site I tested it on has 3 sites all running Rel 8 UR1. To be honest, I currently don't trust anything above UR2. (Even UR2 is hit and miss!!)

Cheers

OK, I think I understand now.

You are using the Remote Busy lamp form but you are not creating remote busy lamps. You are creating local busy lamps.

I have never tried this and it may work but I wouldn't want the headache if it didn't and I needed to call tech support.
