We have 9 Mitel 5550 IP Consoles in use by our Operators. I am already aware that the Dell computers they are using are inadequate to the tasks being asked of them (They're doing double duty for Operators and Reservation Agents. Also, the only way to add a 2nd NIC port was to attach USB-NIC adapters.) and that there are times when any given computer freezes up and must be rebooted.

But I've recently been told of a problem that randomly occurs on several stations where the Console suddenly just logs the user out which, of course, drops any active calls. The computer itself has not frozen. The 5550 software just goes to a logged out status and must be closed and restarted to operate properly again.

Has anyone experienced this kind of problem before? Does anyone have any recommendations about how I might fix the problem?

Respectfully.

Hi Harry,

Yes this is normally when the NIC power saver is enabled
Select NIC adapter properties
Select configure
Select Power management
un selecet 'Allow computer to turn off this device to save power'

Also check the class of service option of the console
Make sure the Attendant Busy Out Timer is set to 1440

What OS is present on the PCs
What SW version of the 5550 are you using
What SW version of 3300

Supernova 99 - I'll do that.

kwbMitel - The PCs are running WinXP. The 5550s are v4.2.2.3. The 3300 is v6.0.

No concerns on the OS or SW versions

In addition to the power saver functions you might want to exclude the Mitel SW from any Virus Protection SW

suggest going to Mitel Online and reading knowledge base article 13-5173-00087

Waldosworld - Are you sure of the article number? When I search the knowledge base I get a response of "There are no results for query "13-5173-00087"."

Try selecting IP Desktop devices from the drop down then add the doc number
I have just tried it and it works for me

FYI
It is the release notes
5550 Console Release Notes - 4.2.2.7

which detail fixes and new features plus install recommendations
