This may be a VISTA thing or a security thing but I've never seen it before and I hope one of you has.

Usually when you configure the console it does not matter which user logs in, the console loads its config and all is happy.

I am finding that on this site, the console needs to be configured for each and every user.

Thoughts?

I think it needs to be installed with admin rights (right click run as administrator) so that all users have access

Supernova: You are probably correct. I did not load the software and I always use administrator so I didn't think of that.

In the meantime I've asked the customer to use the Run As option.

I believe in Vista and Win7 5550 console now has individual profiles for each user so that everyone can customize to their own liking.

Windows 7 and Vista can be installed as non-admin users but there are guidelines to follow.

The settings for each user is stored under C:\users\"username"\AppData\Local\Mitel\5550 IP\config

So I have confirmed that the original install was done by using an administrator login.

@sarond - Do you think it is possible to simply copy the user data from a configured login to the other users?

I a proceeding as if this is possible.

kwbMitel,

I'm not sure to be honest, I have not had much experience with 5550 Console but remember seeing this on an online workshop on MOL.

I don't see why it wouldn't though. I don't have access to a console to try.

Update:

As sarond indicated earlier, each user now has their own profile and by default the config files are stored separately under each user.

You can however change the storage location for each user to a common point under the tools / options menu.

For my customer, I copied the files that were created in the user account to the C:\program files\mitel\5550 folder and then had each user modify their file location info via the tools/options.
