5550 console not accessing phonebook

I have just converted a 5550 console from normal operation to teleworker mode and all appears to be working ok, except.... The operator no longer gets any data when she uses the phonebook in the 5550. She enters a name and clicks search and nothing happens. None of the additional database fields are checked under "Tools - options" but she is seein an error in the lower right hand corner of the screen saying "Transport channel is down, directory services are unavailable".
The 3300 is MCD7.2 and the 5550 is 4.3.0.10
Has anybody seen this before?

Check that TCP Port 6806 is open from the Internet to the MBG. This is the port for phonebook and BLF Services.

there is also a MBG setting to support console (under applications)

If I never did anything I'd never done before , I'd never do anything.....
