I've started using the layer3 functionality on a stack of 5520 switches. The setup at the moment is quite simple.
I have a subnet on vlan1 with the range 192.168.36.0/22 the switch has the ip address 192.168.36.9 on vlan1 all the problem computers are in this vlan
vlan60 is connected to the Internet firewall, this vlan is 192.168.60.0/24 the switch has ip 192.168.60.1 on this subnet, the firewall is 192.168.60.9
servers on the 36.0 range have their default gateway set to 192.168.36.9, the switch has a default route to 192.168.60.9.
I am having a problem accessing the Internet with several servers running server 2003, servers running Linux and server 2008 seem unaffected. If I log onto one of the servers and try to ping an address on the Internet (8.8.8.8) I get time outs, the same thing is true if I ping the firewall (192.168.60.9). If I look at the arp table I can see the switch address with the correct MAC (192.168.36.9). If I ping the switch address I get replies, as soon as I ping the switch address Internet connectivity is restored and I can ping the Internet and the firewall. If the server is left and doesn't access the Internet for a period of time the connection stops working and I'm back where I started.
