I have a 5500G switch

i have setup an additional VLAN to the default one

on the default valn i have an internet router that needs to be accessible via both vlans

i have set the internet router port to be a hybrid port with valn 1 and 2 untagged (it defualts to a pvid of 1)

i cannot see the router from vlan 2

Is it me?

any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Dean

Make sure you define an IP interface for VLAN 2 and use it as the default gateway for all hosts on VLAN 2.

Thanks i will try,

i did try doing this originally but it wanted a different ip segment, do i need to do this then set up a static route? or can they be on the same ip segment

Thanks

To keep things simple I tend to use different IP segments on individual VLANS (1 to 1) so I don't get mixed up later on.

I don't think you need to define a static route anywhere unless you are not using RIP or OSPF to advertise the route to other layer 3 devices. If you can't reach hosts on VLAN 2 from VLAN 1 you might need to define the route "somewhere" so your clients know where to go.
