Evening.

I need to check out some routing on a newly commisioned 3com network.

10 Vlans.

ADSL router (172.16.100.254) on Native VLAN 172.16.100.x/24 network

IP Cameras on VLAN 10 10.1.1.x/24 network.

interface vlan 10 ip address = 10.1.1.254/24

ip route of 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 172.16.100.254

DOes not seem to route correctly. considering these switches are layer 3 switches could you confirm the routing I need on the above so that I can keep my ADSL router on the native vlan so I can access this from all VLANS until my Leased line comes into site.

ACA - IPOffice implement
ACA - IP Telephony
CCNA - Passed at last

You will need to make sure that your router has has static routes defined for each vlan, if it supports this function And i would also get the router off of VLAN 1.

Your 5500 needs an interface on VLAN1...

Assuming your ADSL router connects into the 5500G and that the ports are default ie they have no VLAN defined so are untagged in VLAN 1 then you need to create a VLAN interface on the 5500G for VLAN 1 in the 172.16.100.0/24 network.

At the moment there is no interface on the 5500 for the default route to push the 172.16.100.0/24 traffic down. If you do a dis ip routing-table you will see that the 10.1.1.254/24 interface is DIRECT, so you just need to do the same for VLAN 1 - where you have a DIRECT interface you do not need to create a static route as routing is automatic.

You will also need to make the ADSL router aware of the 10.1.1.0/24 network - again its next hop will be the new VLAN 1 interface on the 5500.
