I have Sendmail 8.12.5 and I am hosting several Mail domains. The basic domain is xxx.com and the virtual domains are yyy.com, zzz.com and so on. DNS works fine, no problems. The mails are going in but I have problems with sending out.
- When user john@xxx.com sends mail to any exist user in any virtual domain, yyy.com or zzz.com it is OK.
- When user john@xxx.com or jane@yyy.com or jack@zzz.com try to send mail to joe@domain1.com the following error messageis coming: 550 5.7.1 joe@domain.com... Relaying denied
- All users for all virtual domains can accept mail from anyone.

Which file I must change to fix the problem? Also I do not want to Relay mails from any domains to any domains.

1. Are the people sending from the local computer or from remote systems? I am guessing that they are remote.

2. If they are remote and have static IP addresses, you can add their IP to the access database to allow relaying.

3. If they do not have static IPs, you will need to use SMTP AUTH to allow relaying.

Check out for more info.

The problem you're having is that you have setup relaying for the connectig 'ips' your vhost users are connecting from.

The issue you'll find is as you make allowances for their ip needs, you'll be opening yourself up as a 'launch point' for would-be spammers.

What I would suggest is either 'POPAUTH' which you can get more information on from or 'pop-before-smtp'
What these do, is authenticate the user by his pop login, then they get a time limit in which the system will allow them to send mail. (usually 20-30 min) Since most people check their mail at regular interivials, there shouldn't be any problem.

I use "pop-before-smtp", it's rather simple to setup, and works great.

Hope this helps
