Is there a way to program the messages button on a 5420 to collect voicemail with out the need to input extension and password?

button programming

feature: VM collect

data: ext#password#

ext and password being numbers of course

What I am looking for is the actual Hard Key on the phone. I can put a voicemail collect button on the screen but I wanted to have the Hard Key Messages button drop the user in their mailbox like voicemail collect. The Hard Key seems to have the function of hitting *17

Try V(extnumber) in source numbers example

for extn 500

V500

If running VM Pro and intuity mode you will need V(extension number) ie:V201 in the source numbers field and if just for one user, in VM Pro create a user/collect and connect the start point to a Get Mail.

If you want this for all users do the source numbers part and add a get mail the the default start points/collect

What mr bob is asking for can't be done, at least not as far as I have been able to take it. Even if you put Vext in th sourse code, it still asks for password and acts like default collect. Best I have found is posted above, and as far as I know, trusted number is only supposed to work in IP office mode.

I'm wrong. It seems since I upgraded to 3.2.28.4 the trusted numbers works so Vext should give you what you are looking for. Does anyone know if this is version specific with intuity mode?

You need a combination of source numbers Vext and the Get Mail action in voicemail pro set to callers mailbox.
