Is there a way to upgrade only new 5420 phones added to phone system to release 5.0? It seems our phone system is not upgrading our new phones to the latest version available on our tftp server but leaving them at release 4.0 (maybe because it is happy enough with that version?). Should I try forcing them to be the same as version as the rest of the phones in the office (release 5.0)? Can I do this without trying to force all of the phones in the office to re-update if they are already on the latest version?

Do you have used the turn_off batch file ?
If yes then you need to do the turn_on batchfile
After that you need to turn it off again

I'm guessing that the turn_off batch file was run after the phone system was installed. It seems that new phones that have older firmware find their way to the correct file and get all the way up-to-date with the newest firmware release, even after running the turn_off batch file.

So if I run turn_on and then plug in the new phones, only these will get the latest firmware? Will the other 50 phones in our office try to get their firmware again and now I have a problem with too many phones trying to access the tftp server running on the mananger?

They will not upgrade because they do not need to
So just give it a try
