I know its been said in the past that if the 5410 phones tried to do a firmware upgrade it will get stuck... It is happening with several of my phones. What happened was that I had to upgrade an IP500 V1 4.0 to an IP500 V2 9.1. Somehow the last tech that was in the system years ago decided to leave ALLOW_5410_UPGRADES in the source number for NoUser.... I did not know that it was in there till after I pushed the old config onto the new unit then proceeded to plug in the 54xx phones... The 5420's came up but not the 5410's...

Now all my 5410 phones are stuck with waiting for firmware download. It tries to download the firmware for a split second then it loops all over again. I can see that its trying to grab the file in monitor. I get a reason=5 error=0 when it tries to grab the R6. I then tried the source number codes like: SET_2454_VINTAGE=5 and PERMIT_FORCED_DCP_DOWNLOAD and it still hangs. I also tried to rename the R5 as a R6 file, it still looped...

Any suggestions on getting these unbricked? Thanks in advanced!

you could try a different file server.
If you use the SD card then switch to Manager and make sure you turn it on in preferences.

Those 5410 phones have been a PITA when they came out and always upgraded when rebooted and still are a PITA because they are sometimes just stubborn and not upgrading at all.
Good thing is that once they are on R6.0 you will never have to upgrade them again. That is it for years now and I doubt that Avaya will upgrade the firmware aver again.

I tried TFTP32 and the manager's tftp server (enabled in preferences). Everytime it pulls the config, it tries to download 0kb then it restart again. Is there a way to force it to take the .bin file and run it? I am so aggravated! I just shot 8 5410 phones and I have to get them new ones out of my pocket because of some idiot leaving that in the configs... grrrr!! Any way to default these damn phones? haha.

Another update:

I tried to use an old IP406 V2 with firmware of 4.2 and with the manager of 4.2 with tftp enabled on it. I pointed tftp to my laptop with the manager and made sure 5410_R5.bin was there. I see it pull it to the IPO but the phone again just restarts at 0kb...

I did an upgrade today from 3.0 to 9.0 and it downloaded after a couple of reboots.
So not sure why your phones are so stubborn.

Have you set TFTP server in the IP Office, System tab.

The IPO download the firmware and then sends it to the phones, so when you reboot you should see the IPO downloading the file first.

Yes, I had set it to my laptop which had manager opened on with tftp enabled. I also changed the choice to Manager just to point to my laptop. Still no go. I also tried with the memory card choice and same thing. I think the old post about bad phones may have a part in my issues... Anyone else can confirm with the SN I posted earlier?
