We've just had it through from the distributor. Luckily we haven't bought any for a while.

Avaya 5410 Upgrade Issue and Recommendation

Avaya has requested Voda One to advise all BusinessPartners who sell IP Office of an issue with select 5410 phones (i.e. SAP Code 700382005).

The issue is specific to the 5410 phones that were loaded with the most recent software build. No other phones, including the 5420, were affected by this issue.

Avaya quality control has put a ship hold specifically on the 5410 phones that start with the following serial number sequence: 07N542XXXXXXX. (Note: 42 represents the week number of manufacture; phones prior to this date are NOT affected.)

The most recent software build (release 5) loaded to the phone during manufacture has been found to cause a problem on installations when performing a firmware upgrade to the phone. During installation, these phones may seek an upgrade to the firmware. If allowed to continue, they will not connect and, therefore, will not function.

Avaya is working to quickly determine the best possible resolution and necessary actions. Please do not install the affected phones unless you have exhausted the alternatives outlined in the 5410 Product Hold Notice.

Avaya apologizes for any inconvenience caused and is committed to resolving this for you with minimal disruption to your business.

Your information is outdated:

The range of phone infected is from serial number 07N543xxxxxxx to serial number 08N503xxxxxxx and everything in between.

Once tried to up or down grade such a phone results in a dead telephone wich is useless from then on.

Avaya will replace the phones in the near future ( March? ).

There will not be a firmware upgrade for these phones made available and they MUST be replaced in order to enable future updates.
