I am working on a ip 400 with voicemail pro. I have an extension #1504 that is a 5410 phone. The display keeps telling me to please wait. I know the phone works because it will registar anywhere else i plug it in. But if i plug it back in at its original location, it wont work. This started to happen about a week ago. Not sure if maybe some of these ports go bad on the IP office, but that is what it seems like. Anyone have any ideas?

Open manager on a pc connected to the system, then reboot the system with the 5410 connected to the system as well. The phone should register with the system after that. Also check to see if you have a name conflict or number conflict associated with that port.

I can get these ports back by doing the following:

While the system is up and all phone are connected, unplug the power to the expansion module that the "Please Wait" phone is plugged into. Wait a few seconds and repower, the phone will show "Please Wait" for a few seconds then it should come up ok.

You may have to shut off the ability for these phones to update, see Avaya Tech Tip 094. This tech tip has instructions for shutting off the update feature on the 5400 series phones.

If the above doesn't work make sure that it isn't plugged into an analog station.

Thanks everyone for the post back. I wasnt expecting a reply until later today.

First off, telecomgear, i have already tried that with no luck. Now i have about couple of this phone threw out the facility and they work just fine.

thephonemn, i will try what you recommended.

And kflounders, I have verifed that the phone was left and still is in it origanl plug.

Thank you all once again. I am going to try what thephonemn suggested and get back to you.

Just wanted to say thanks for all your suggestions. I do believe i have a bad port. I moved the phone to a new port and all is well. We replaced the equipment today and everything is working fine. Thanks again

this is a known issue , the phone is looking for firmware.
Set your manager tftp address and set your pref to broadcast and make sure the working directory is set to the manager folder the location for the firmware
