Hello all, have programmed a MWI key on a 5330 set, works near perfectly, messages are left key flashes. My understanding of the MWI key is that you can press it when it is flashing indicating a new message & it will take you into the mailbox of the MWI key, however in this case when I press the key nothing at all happens. Any ideas?

What make/model of VM system are you using?

Is you VM system on the same PBX as the set? (or within the same cluster)?

Have you done any programming to the key appearances on the instrument since implementing the MWI key? For the MWI key to work there must also be a companion key appearance of the station line of the associated DN.

The functionality of the key works (and should work) fine, with the full understanding being that it will appear to be a dead key except those times when it is actively flashing.

Is the VM system otherwise able to both set (turn on) and clear (turn off) the MWI key?

Also, I ran into issues with my MWI after upgrading to 8.0 UR4. I guess it want really an issue but the new visual voicemail threw my users off (it doesnt take much here).

After the upgrade the VM button would go to the visual display rather than dialing into the pilot.

Known issue (DPAR MN00233908)

Per the KPI the recommended workaround (if visual VM is not required) is to disable VM via the set application key.

If visual VM is required then add the visual VM hunt group pilot number to the mailbox settings for each 5340 set and this will resolve the issue.

According to the KPI this is planned to be fixed in 8.0 UR5

I just read the release notes for UR5 and there is a maintenance command to turn off visual VM for all 5340's and 5235's.

Question for you (kwbMitel)

On the 2K TDM sets, if MWI is set (flag turned on) you can press the MESSAGE key and be taken straight to your mailbox. On the 3300(within same cluster as the 2K) is MWI is set you must push a series of 3 keys to get there. What did we do wrong? (3300 8.0.something, 2K LW34) (Octel VM local to the 2K)

sorry for the late reply, the vmail i'm using is the embedded on the 3300, this is a single system site so phone & vmail are on the same system, button flashes when a message is left, & when the message is listened to the button stops flashing & key becomes 'dead' so to speak, only problem is when a message is left, key flashes but when you press it nothing happens
