any info on connecting a 5310 cof unit to a 5340. i know there are limitations on the 5340 running 7.1 on the 3300.

Short answer - yes and no...
You will need to upgrade to Rel 8.0+ for the 5310 to work.

The 5310 will run on:
• 5220 and 5224 IP Phones interface: side control unit features conference unit on/off, volume controls, presentation mode and mute.
• 5235, 5324, 5330, 5340, and 5360 IP Phones: conference controller application on the phones features softkey functionality for conference unit on / off, volume controls, presentation mode and mute.
• Optional remote control mouse performs the functions of on, off, mute, volume up / down and presentation mode.

• 5220 and 5224 IP Phones:
– Powered via the AC adapter power port on the 5220 and 5224 IP Phones.
– Requires 24 V DC power adapter (purchased separately)
• 5235, 5324, 5330, 5340 and 5360 IP Phones:
– Powered over Ethernet with a power source compliant to IEEE 802.3af.
– 48 V DC Ethernet power adapter available,
purchased separately (if required).

How do I connect the 5310 to a 5360? Don't I need a conference Unit?

When you say it can be powered over ethernet with power source 802.3af, do you mean it can be connected to a PoE port on the network?

you will need a 'version 2' Conference Unit for use with 5340 (probably for 5360 too)

Re: your question on 52xx phones

5310 Conference may not work with 5220 DPLite(Dual Mode IP phone) . Revs D.8 and below may be affected.

The symptoms are when a user pushes the side control button, the saucer flashes but does not work.

5220 Dual mode sets with Mitel TEN 56005585, 56005586 or 56005587 D.5 and below may exhibit this intermittent operation of the side control.

For 5220 Dual with rev D.8(5,6,7), it is required to upgrade to D.9. Please go through normal repair process to get sets upgraded.

Note: If one still experiences issue with 5220 Dual mode (D.9), please have the side unit repaired.
