515e - Steps on Changing ISPs? 1

Hi all,

I am going to be changing ISPs and I was wondering if anyone could help me with step by step changes on my pix 515e firewall.

From what I know I have to change the outside interfaces IP address (static ip to new static ip) using the "ip address" command and I also have to change the default gateway using the "route" command.

We also use the VPN functionality on our Pix. Are there any changes that need to be made to the VPN config?

Are there any additional procedures like clearing certain caches? Any help would be great. Thanks!

Dont forget to change your global statement if it has values other then "interface" Your vpn should not be affected by the isp change. After you completed all changes reboot the pix just to be sure.

Also your accesslists need to be reconfigured.

Ok, the only global statement I have pertain to interfaces, and I have my new access-list setup and ready to go. I hope everything goes as plan. I am pretty worried that I may have issues with my VPN working after the switch. Anyone experience problems with their VPNs after an ISP change? Is there any common issues I should keep an eye out for?

I have made similar changes for several of our customers and never had any problems with the vpn. I am pretty sure it will work.

You need to change the other side's ip they are pointing to of course. OUtside of that, nothing on your side is different (vpn's). The Interface ip, access-list, global, statics will all need changing.

Once you have done these it's pretty much done.
