512 DDR registering as 256!

Just put together a new system, and the memory is registering at 256 instead of 512!
Its a DDR 2700 at 333 (single chip).
The motherboards an MSI KT4V (MS-6712)
AMD 2600 (2.83Gig)

The chip registered fine to start with, then I had probs with my graphics card and switched to an MSI NVidia Geforce 5200fx. I then had to reset the bios beacuse it wouldnt start and now the memory wont register proporly.

Could it be Bios settings? dodgy chip? or mobo prob? Would increasing the dram voltage help?

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Hi,

Since that is a newer MB, that would rule out a BIOS issue with 512MB chips. I suggest that the memory is either defective or out of spec for your specific MB.
