50UM Fiber to 62.5Um Fiber?????

We have found that there are 2 different fibers installed to try to complete a connection. The feed from the Headend room is a62.5Um fiber running to a junction point. From there a 50Um fiber goes out to the facility.

Is there any way to make this happen? Currently we have good signal to each device from the "junction box" and can run switched there to each end. When we connect the two fiber for a complete pathway the devices will not link up.

Any suggestions would be great

Though not ideal, they should work, assuming distances are not huge. Have you tried to swap the pairs on one of the fibers (Tx and Rx)to see if you can then get a signal? Have you tried the "flashlight test" shining the light at one end and seeing if you see it at the other? .... DO NOT STARE INTO THE FIBER IF IT IS CONNECTED TO THE SOURCE EQUIPMENT. Using a flashlight you should be able to see white light from one end to the other. If you do this one fiber at a time you will be able to tell which is tx and which is rx.

62.5 fibre is edge launch and 50 is centre launch so its difficult in that a standard patch lead will not work. You will need a specific patch lead that has the correct terminations on each end and they are directional. They can be purchased from many vendors. (and 50 micron terminations will not work on 62.5 micron fibre either and vice versa)
