Hey folks,

I've got a customer with a EM server and a CS5200 on 5.1. The EM server seems to be on its last legs. Instead of trying to repair an old server, I'm now tasked with migrating them to UVM only I was trained on 6.0 so I have no idea what installing an EM entails let alone uninstalling one. I've looked through the DB backup for the customer and can't find anywhere specifying a VM type. Can anyone tell me what the process is for removing an EM from an environment? I've searched for docs on MOL, Google, and Edge...got nuthin...

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I have dreamed a dream, but now that dream has gone from me.

Go to Operations, Voice Processor and Enable UVM

Re-enter all of the customer details for their Mailboxes, VM to Email details etc.

Job done.

Thanks for the quick response! The DB has all the information under Voice Processor already. Are you saying I have to delete all that programming and reenter it?

I have dreamed a dream, but now that dream has gone from me.

No you should be ok to just use that info, it's all taken from the extn info.

Thinking avbout it, remember to create the Voicemail Applications, Retrieval, Record a Call etc.

Hi Hovus,

The 5000 has always had an embedded VM; to connect the EM server during installation, the basic VM (UVM) is disabled, allowing the EM to connect and become the VM you see in Session Manager. Shutdown the EM, sign into DB (continue without VM connected), then enable UVM. Save to flash and reboot. Sign back in rebuild your CRAs/MBs as NTEDave mentioned.

NTEDave/619Tech,

I disconnected the expansion cable and turned off the EM services, but what's strange is the UVM was already enabled. The CRAs, MBs, Ext IDs, everything was still there. Only thing the customer had to do was re-record the greetings. I'm surprised this thing ever worked...seems like UVM and EM may have been battling for ownership the entire time.

I have dreamed a dream, but now that dream has gone from me.
