Customer has a person with a non-associated mailbox that uses an extension as the notification DN. Call from outside hits STAR and if they dial the non-associated mailbox 215, they go straight to their greeting and can leave a message.

However, if someone internally wants to transfer a call to the non-associated mailbox 215, when they press transfer key and then 2500-215 they get a response that this is an invalid mailbox.

What's up?

To transfer directly to the mailbox internally you will have to press transfer to the VM application and then enter the mailbox number. You may have to change the system flag Validate VM Numbers. It would make more sense to create a phantom with a system forwarding path (immediate)to VM. Then when you transfer the call it will go directly to VM. Just one less step to transfer.
