5.3 on 7043-260 1

I tried to install 5.3 on 7043-260 but it didn't quite work. The installation stops displaying anything on the terminal after the kernel loads and at some point it resets it self and reboots over. The only thing google found waas something about a firmware upgrade to get it to boot from cdrom but that doesn't seem to be the problem. Has anyone done this or can someone verify it should work?

Okay, the problem is :

7043-260 = power3 processor

I'm afraid the hardware could be a little to old for AIX5.3( requirements are power5 I think)

Can you document this? According to IBMs website it runs on POWER3, POWER4 and POWER5.

You need the latest firmware to run 5.3
It says so in the readme.
