Hello all,

I'm in the process of migrating all my rs6000/pSeries
systems from 5.2 ML06 to 5.3 ML4 (02/2006 cds).
Have succeeded in all cases but two:

1) an H70 which, after processing all filesets,
hangs with a 0c20 at the "Initializing dump device"
stage. The resulting disk won't boot (stays at
"mount /usr" for ever...) The disk used is a small
one (~4.5G). I thought it could be a disk space
problem, added another one to rootvg, results were
the same. During the 0c20 stage the system enters
the kdb and stays there.

2) a 7044-270 (F70 ??) box, which starts booting off the
first AIX cd and, after a while, stops with the message
"Unknown BOOT FS" on the small front panel screen.

The procedure I'm using in all cases is kind-of expected
one: break mirrors, alt_inst, boot off the first cd etc.

All firmware (system/CD-rom etc) is at latest levels.

Any ideas/help will be much appreciated.
Thank you all in advance.

Hm,

i have a lot of problems with the migration too.

( 7026 - 6h1 latest firmware )

Kont,

1) shure, that you have LED 0c20 ? Here i have a LED 0518 and message /usr mnt failure .

MAybe a solution for you :

@ all :

Migration runs up to 96 % creating boot images and stay there for hours.

I restore a mksysb and :

1. check fs on adäquate space
2. increase the size of the bootlv hd5 up to 64mb
3. bosboot

Now i'm waiting for finishing.
