When i begin the installation by running install.bat, after the first screen about 1 minute in i get an error saying you have only 64MB of RAM, you need 96MB to run installation. I have 396MB of memory. I still run the install but by the install programs stage everything runs too slow to continue. Constant yellow light and ticking over on the HD. I am wondering is this a hardware or software issue, why can't it see the memory. Is it to do with DOS partiton which has limited utils on it. I might try taking the 133MHZ 256MB RAM stick out of slot 1 and putting in a 100MHZ 128MB stick. My hardware is completely overclocked like cpu etc should this matter. I'm running a p3 500(620 overclocked). Got A top quality m/b so it should be ok on the hardware side of things.

For booting and partitioning i'm using DRDOS 7.0. No actually i partition and format with DRDOS but i have to do a reboot and use a DOS 6.22 disk because it loads CDROM drivers automatically.

I have installed Linux, NT, W2K no problems at all but why am i getting this memory error. Why doesn't this program have it's own boot loader like NTldr or Lilo. Why am i losing my patience? By the way i like the install GUI but that is little consolation.

I have checked the Novell site but i couldn't find much. Has anyone had the same error.

Could be that DOS 6.22 can't see above 64 MB. DRDOS can. Copy the autoexec.bat, config.sys, and any support files they need from your MSDOS disk to your DRDOS disk and it should be able to find your CDROM.

Disable HIMEM.SYS in the DOS config.sys file. Netware will then find all your RAM.

Why arn't you booting from CD?

If you just have to boot from HDD and get CDROM access;

DRDOS tips for NetWare

A CDROM driver for almost all IDE CDROM's

Here is a place you can download a full copy of DRDOS

Get the file NWCDEX.EXE, which is the DRDOS equivlent of MSCDEX.EXE. All switches are the same.

DOS is NetWare's NTLoader / Lilo. Novell has just never written their own. It's about time they did't they just haven't. This does not mean NetWare "runs" on DOS.
