I just got done loading a 5.0.7 box and am having problems with telnet. It appears that it's attempting to do a reverse lookup on every connection. If it does not resolve to something, it doesn't allow the connection through. I have NOT loaded wrappers and would like to turn this option off. Could someone please point me in the right direction?

Thanks,
Eric

Make sure your telnet client is in /etc/hosts.
If you have a /etc/resolv.conf file, you can try this:
hostresorder local bind

Hope This Help

Thanks for the assist. I've put all my local IPs in the local hosts file and that takes care of them. I have a remote user who's IP changes everytime she connects and they never resolv. Of course, it would be her ISP's problem... but the customer only knows that she can't connect. I'm trying to convince them to use ssh... but teaching an old dog new tricks is rough (Yes, even when it's only a different icon to click on)!! I was hoping beyond hope that I could disable the reverse lookup. Guess I'm SOL, huh?

Thanks,
Eric
