5.0.5 nlm lock server died! exiting

We have a customer running SCO unix 5.0.5 and quite frequently all telnet connections lock up. They can log onto the consol and reboot and everything is OK. I checked syslog and found a lockd error message "lock server died! exiting" consistantly happening before they have to reboot. There may be a few other errors wihin seconds, but a lot of times, that's the last error before they reboot.
