Hi Gents,

Need your advice badly.

I'm on a task to configure SNMP for a customer network wide.
This includes the Boards, Trunks etc + Phones.

For the Peripherals I got rough idea what needs to be done with regards to enabling SNMP in Assistant, configuring the trap receivers, firewalls, forwarding errors, VADSU etc.
I also was lucky to find download link for MIBs Assistant v8 under "SNMP Configurator".

Now, with the phones slightly different story.
Across the board there are, Openstage and OpenScape DPIP phones. All HFA it makes a difference.
In SWS, under the respective phone loadware there are 3 different types of MIBs:
QDC-MIB
OPENSTAGE-MIB
CORNETPHONE-MIB

I cannot browse OPENSTAGE-MIB to see the details. It complains with "IPV6-TC" file not found.
Nonetheless, I was wondering what the difference is between OPENSTAGE-MIB aand CORNETPHONE-MIB. And also if anyone has any advice how to set this up to monitor the phones.

I have been playing with some of this. Those MIBs are really old and I haven't been able to get anything much newer. If you have a DLS server (you can set up basic DLS for free) it is relatively easy to create an SNMP template and add it to your phone profiltes to push it out. I have manually gone into the WBM for the STMI and NCUI cards and configured them for communicty access and I am getting "basic" information from Solarwinds. I am not sending traps at this time so I didn't set that up.

I don't know much about the whole subject which makes it all the more difficult for me. I am about to roll out a product called TotalView, which is a low-level network diagnostic tool and I suspect I'm going to have to still find out ways to get all the components of the system to provide information in the detail the software is able to explore. I don't have access to SWS even though I took the complete North American service tech training program for the 4K so I can't be in there looking to find if there is any newer information out there for this stuff, and I can't get the service techs to bother looking or really even find anyone that has any more of a clue than I do on the subject!

I'll be keeping an eye on this thread in case you find any eye opening information, and if I find any I will post it here as well. :)
