When I am setting a 4600 IP phone on the network it says that I should setup my call server to be my PC manager ip address. When the 4600 turns on it TFTP to the PC manager and looks for the 46xxupgrade file I get an TFTP error. I look in the manager folder and I do not see an of the 46xx files. Should they be there and is is o.k if they are not there?

Please help

thanks

And if you have installed the manager program the files should be in the Manager directory, if not they must have been removed, You can find them on the Admin CD in the BIN files directory as well

I have copied the 46xx files from the cd and placed them in the manager folder. When I reboot the IP phone it comes up saying 46xxupgrade.scr 0KB then it going to TFTP error. Is there something else I need to do.

thanks for all of your help in this.

Is this IP phone on the local lan, or for a remote user? I'm wondering if something on your network is blocking ports. After the TFTP error (is it TFTP timeout, specifically?) does the phone then work?

The phone is on my LAN and the phone does work but I have to press # because it says Extention in use and then press # again because it ask fo rthe extention number again then it goes normal.

I would try uninstalling Manager and reinstalling it. Either someone was messing with it or it didn't install correctly if it didn't have those bin files. Either one is cause to be suspicious.

Before you uninstall/reinstall - make sure Manager is running when you reboot the IP Phone. Its Manager that acts as the TFTP server, not the PC.

mmmmm, good point this is. Always thinking clearly you are, a good jedi will you make yet! ;)

That is it.. It worked. I didn't have Manager running. Thanks to all that helped in my problem.

...too late, I've succumbed to the dark side long ago, sorry, just they had better coffee and the uniforms not bad, cloaks are for wimps. But maybe there's hope yet for the children ...
