4630 Terrible Sound on Speaker

I just plugged in a 4630- it appeared to boot fine and works good with the handset. As soon as we put it on speaker the far end hears a very loud squeeling noise... and can't hear us.

Any ideas?

What type of headset are you using?

No headset - Just the regular handset. Once the we put the call on speaker phone, the far end hears loud squeeling noise...

Hmmm - I'm guessing feedback. Is the handset still functioning after you press speaker? Maybe the handset mic isn't cutting out when you press speaker.

End result - we replaced the phone with another. Similar problems. Could be feedback, so end-user wants to go to either 4625 or 4621...

4625 IP phones have same problem, speakerphone is useless. Another problem with 4602 phones that are heating (headse area).
