I was informed that the 4620IP phones can have VPN info inserted and from home you can just launch the phone from your home Internet connection and it just auto vpn's and registeres witht he PBX. Does anyone have any info on where and what needs to be programmed?? thanks!

Yes, we deploy them all the time. You need a CISCO ASA or an AVAYA VPN concentrator at the main site of course, and you load a special version of the 4600 firmware, and setup accounts on your VPN server.

you can use alot of different firewalls/routers for the connection. we use alot of juniper, cisco and some other brands.

Is IP Office required for a VPN phone to work? I found a document regarding this for a Netgear FVX538 mentioning the use of IP Office.

No you can do VPN with either a Communication Manager or IP Office PBX.

And to further the point, there are multiple firewalls supported by the product. Cisco, Checkpoint, Avaya, etc...plus there is also a "generic" client which works with a pre-shared key VPN....I've used this client with our Sonicwall VPN successfully....

Thanks a lot sjforcum! I was confused a bit on that document ;)
