Is it possible to put external ip on 4610sw to communicate with ip 500 at remote location?

I doubt you will get that to work, and of you did you would need a http/tftp server to be open to that external address etc not a good idea, you need to spend some cash and load the VPN firmware really or use R5 and a SIP phone of some description which would work better :)

Won't work, the Phone itself can not do NAT, You might get it to work but ther will be no speech path.

Better use a Hard VPN router (one that AVAYA supports) or buy a lincence and load the VPN software wich can be found in the bin map from the ADMIN cd.

But you still need a HARD VPN router at th main site.

Customer wants to carry phone around with him. Hardware firewall would be great otherwise. So i need to purchase a vpn license, and upgrade the 4610sw? And this will work?

You will need this licence;

213980 enables 1 remote 46xx/56xx VPN phone to connect to IP Office (only for 4610/4620/4621/5610/5620/5621 series).

How to install;

Ok, i jumped into this as like i knew i was gonna fly through it with flying colors. BUT, I ran into a dead log.. I followed the steps in the link above, but i am not understanding a couple things. The instructions say that i need 3 files. 46vpnugrade.scr (ok) , 46vpnsettings.txt (ok) and 46xxsettings.txt (no clue where that is) Also for the 4610sw i need firmware a10bVPNxxxxx.bin which i have in my tftp directory. When i start phone up, it finds 46xxupgrade.scr, then when it looks for 46xxsettings.txt the phone displays File Not Found. Help please

Thanks

That file lives in the Manager folder along with all the other bin files etc, you need to open it and edit it to suit your needs if required then copy it to your TFTP server :)

I have 2 txt files. 46vpnsetting_readme and 46vpnsetting_Template. Dont see that 46xxsettings.txt or the 46vpnsettings.txt. Do i have a older copy of admin?

Ever heard of "Search" in Windows?

That's not very nice, sorry to ask silly questions. But i was assuming that is why i was here.

Yes, i did a search and no file with that name found.

If you have installed the ADMIN "cd" the it should be here;

C:\Program Files\Avaya\IP Office\Manager\

Or in the ADMIN map;

C:\.......ADMIN5_0_8\program files\Avaya\IP Office\Manager\
