I have a problem with our frame. We are still using the old version of EMC Control Center. ECC 4.3 and I know before I hear it we are working on a solution. EMC just needs us to take a frame outtage to upgrade the firmware which is almost impossible to do.

Ok now my question.

I have 46 BVC's that are went into NR state and I am unable to bring them back to a ready or RW state. I am running the

#symld -g <dgname> ready

command and I am receiving the following output

root@nhqsncc2:/opt/emc/dat/mapfiles> symld -g <dgname> -bcv ready

Execute a 'Ready' Device operation for all devices
in device group 'jamiedg' (y/[n]) ? y

The device is not in a valid Ready status. Operation cannot proceed

I have also run the same command without the -bcv and recieve the same error. This has always worked in the past and I am at a loss here. EMC states that someone here has put these into a NR state (which I do not believe) and we will have to bring them back to RW state.

I am not sure if this is the correct forum or not but any assistance would be appreiciated.

Thanks

Ray.

what is your frame? 8530? DMX? other?

do you have access to the symmetrix's Service Console? EMC should review the 46 BCVs in order to know whether they have a psysical problem or not (simple: just "9B,A" and "A7" in the service console!!)

I guess that BCV are splited...

Cheers.
