Guys,
by adding a second supervisor to the 4507R chssis does this disable the second gigbit port in the first supervisor?

Thanks,

Paul

Yes gig1/2 will not function any more if you are using the original 4507 chassis.

Baddos,
thanks for the reply. We're using the cisco WS-C4507R-E (MPC8548) processor (revision 6) with the following supervisors:

Sup 6-E 10GE (X2), 1000BaseX (SFP) WS-X45-SUP6-E

Does what you said still hold for these models?

Thanks,

Paul

I beleive they should both work when using E supervisors in E chassis.

Using the 6-E 10GE look at Cisco's documentation for supported configuration.
Active Supervisor-Engine Uplinks in Redundant Mode
• Two 10 Gigabit Ethernet (wire-speed)
or

• Four 10 Gigabit Ethernet (2:1 oversubscribed)*
or

• Four Gigabit Ethernet (Cisco Twin Gig Converter Module)
or

• Eight Gigabit Ethernet (Cisco Twin Gig Converter Module)*
or

• One 10 Gigabit Ethernet and Two Gigabit Ethernet each supervisor-engine*

Baddos,
yes I read that cisco documentation but it's not working as they say. I've opened a TAC so will let you know what the resolution is.

Thanks again,

Paul

I got it working!!!

Apparently the command:
hw-module uplink mode shared-backplane

allows all ports to be used simultaneously. Though it is not recommended as it does not guarantee 1 Gig per port on the backplane.

Thanks sop much for your interest and help.
