Is there much difference between these two product families? We use the 4500's for our VOIP installs and I think we've had a couple of 5500's.

Is there any real difference?

The 4500 can do IP routing, thats probably needed for managing the IP Phones from the data Vlan or for the IP Phones to get their IP address from the DHCP server that is on the DATA VLAN if so the you would probably have an extra scope and ip route on the server.
