just thought i would share this with all, but after upgrading a site from 3.2 to 4.x we have found that if a 4424LD is plugged in to any module v1 or v2 it will knock down the WHOLE system forcing constant reboots. thought something major went wrong with the upgrade, but 3 hours later after disconnecting all the sets and pluggin them back in one at a time we found the bad phone. I know the phone was never offically supported, but it always worked on other releases. it would have been nice if they would mention this in the 4.x upgrade instructions. im sure there are hundereds of these phones in use out there. just thought i could save you some troublehooting headaches for anyone else that wuold be doing an upgrade that has one of these phones.

Humm interesting. I just upgraded a site from 3.1 to 4.0. Becuase of the mess it created with the short codes and routing I had to revert back to version 3.2. But since I downgraded my system now does cold starts 3-5 times a day. I wonder if this has anything to do with the 4424 I have..

ABCIP,

You are correct, I've had 4424LD on 3.1(65), and 3.2(59), all functions worked, except the soft keys on display, and only the top two lines of display worked.
I just tried the 4424LD on 4.1(9), and no dice, Phone was dead, no response.

I would assume it has to do with the power requirements of the phone. That phone draws more power then the rest of the 4400 series (not a lot more, but a bit).

The 4400 are power hoggs - thus they are not supported on the Digital Expansion Modules now (i.e. you can't run them off the IP500 directly - or at least suppose too).

The, 4424LD has its own power supply for the fluoresent display, it takes same amount of power as 4412D/4424D. Without the power supply, everything works except the display. The 4400D takes less power than 4412D/4424D, about 80% less , yet it dosen't work on ip office.
It's not a Power requirement problem, just not supported, just as 64xx phones do not work on Merlin Magix TDM cards, but 44xx phones do!
