I wanted to pass this info along about not needing a power supply on a 4424LD. Take a spare digital station (TDL)port (if you have one) and connect it to the green white or whatever pair you are using on 3& 6 and it will supply power for the display. Use a RJ14 mounting cord. I was skeptical but it worked!! Am I the only one that did not know this?????

This is the first time I've heard about this. It seems like it could make for messy wiring though. [spin]

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.

Actually it was very neat- I had a 4 pair to the RJ 45 jack- x connected my station to the BL/W pair the spare station to the GN/W pair and used a RJ14 mounting cord between the jack and the phone

DC power is DC power and the phone doesn't care where it comes from, but I would stay away from it because it is a McGuyver solution, you also have a harder time troubleshooting it.
If you have a local power supply you can touch it and if it is cold you know it is broken or there is no AC, if it is warm then it is either the cords or the phone makes three points of failure that concern us as phone people (I avoided the word guys just for you phonelady ;-) ) if you use a port of the phone system it might give you voltage when you plug in your toner to check but it breaks down when it wants current to power something and then you are running after a ghost.

I wasn't aware of it either, but would be cautious since you're drawing auxiliary power from the switch - how much aux power is available, anyway?

Aside from that, it's a pretty cool way to solve the uncountable problems we've encountered after the cleaning service has left at night and unplugged the transformer.

Good post!
