Does anyone know if the 4412D and 4424D phones will work on the IP 500? From what I have read it says they are not supported on the IP 500 control unit DS card but I couldnt find anything about them working or not on the IP 500 DS expansion modules 16/30 port. Thanks,

We have them working on the expansion module on a site, but one day it might stop working after an upgrade to a newer release so tell the customer that it might stop them from a future upgrade.

What release are you running on the control unit at this site? Thanks

Hopefully if the 44xx series sets are ever going to be discontinued / not supported on IP500 external expansion modules, Avaya will give us all enough lead time.

Well, they already say when you upgrade to 4.0 that they are unsupported so I wouldn't count on it.

My bet is that they wont say anything =) Maybe if it comes up during a Field Trial.

Does anyone know if 4424LD's are supported on earlier releases? The Knowledge base only mentions "4424D",not LD.
I have a customer who inherited a rel. 3.044 406V2 who would like to use these phones.
Also, can anyone point me to a matrix regarding upgrades?
This guy has a pcs08-how high can I upgrade him?
Sorry for the stupid questions-it just seems so hard to find these answers-
Much appreciated

I would not use 4424LD 's on IP Office. The display does not display correctly. 4424D's are OK. The 4424LD's,I do beleive, were never supported on the IP Office.

DT handsets were killed off halfway through the V3.0 field trial when it was found the DT modules did not have enough memory for the code, so dot rely on geting much advance notice.

Can someone tell me where on Avaya's Support website it mentions end of sale for the 406v2? Thanks

out of TechBull80
IP Office 4.0 will support the following telephone sets (pending regional availability):
• 2400/5400 series digital phones
• 4600/5600 series IP phones
• 4406, 4412, 4424D+ sets (to provide MERLIN MAGIX migration)
• 6400 series sets (no longer sold new)
• T3 IP and T3 digital (not supported on IP Office Small Office Edition)
• 3701/3711 (IP DECT)
• 3616/3620/3626 (WiFi)
• 3810 (900MHz)
• Analog phones
• Associated DSS units (e.g. EU24)

Also in TechBull 90 for the GA of 4.1 it mentions the 44xx sets still being supported as well, so chances are that they will work but there are no guarantees and that's why we tell our customers that updates are not necessarily available due to the fact that older sets might not work any more with the emphasis on MIGHT not work.

i dont think they have officially mentioned it yet, but i heard in June or July...

I have been hearing May 5, which I was suprised to hear since there is no mention of it on their website. Thanks

they wait on their website until it actually IS the end of sale then they post it, all we hear is rumours from Avaya people that know or here on TekTips

I have seen the actual notice - IP406V2 is end of sale as well as all Small Office Editions. apparently if you have the bullsh$% certification credential of ACS you get notices like this. Now I work for a BP that is small and and we have impelemented IPO's since their inception into the US. I have a love/hate relationship with the system. We sell alot of them, but we surely don't have the time or the resources to send people to get their higher than needed to sell/implement certifications. I think Avaya needs to improve the process a little more for BP certs, tech certs, and access to information.

Sorry to vent about this but I think experience and knowledge far out weighs someones title behind their name. Especially the ones that keep going like the following:

John K. Doe, ACA, ACS, CCNA, CCNP, CCNE, MSP, etc...

Most of you know what I mean - to those of us that have worked in the field for 20 years or more know that experience/knowledge means alot more than some f$&*#*^ certificate.

You can set email notifications your self
When you work for a BP you have a link id
When you are on the supportsite you can set it yourself on the right side

ACA - Implement IP Office
ACS - Implement IP Office
ACA - Voice Services Management

I think the certifications are Bulls**t to. But in today's world its all bulls**t and having them does set you apart. If you're selling Panasonic or Toshiba or ESI or some other piece of crap, naturally you're not gonna care because they don't have any that mean anything.

Avaya and Cisco do and that's the way it is and if you want to really compete, you need them.
