I have a Merlin Magix 1.0 v6.0 phone system. I am trying to get a 4412D+ to mimic the "cover" behavior of a 4406D+. Let me explain...when someone calls our main line it rings to our operator, ext. 101 (2nd operator), ext. 112, and ext. 115. Extension 115 is a 4406D+ station, but will instantly show the caller ID number. Extension 112 is a 4412D+ but only shows "cover operator" instantly, Caller ID is available but only after pressing the next page button ">" I would like extension 112 to have the exact same thing as 115, where the caller id is instantly displayed. The odd part is that extension 115 is NOT an operator position but just a standard extension, and shows the caller id right off the bat.

I am wondering if anyone has a guess as to the type of programming that was programmed on extension 115 and if that is possible for extension 112, or how I could go about mimicing the behavior of 115 for 112? Thanks in advance for your help!

Your solution lies in how the existing phones are programmed to ring. Are they part of a calling group? Do they merely have cover buttons for the operator phone? etc. The easiest thing to do is to run a "print" of the extensions in question and look at how they are programmed. You can do this using WinSPM. Choose standard spm, system programming, start, more, print, more, ext info, enter the extension number, enter. Label the short report with the extension number. Do such printouts for extensions 101, 112 and 115 - and post them here via cut & paste - then we can figure out what to do.

Tom, thanks again for great advice! Surprises me how the simplest answer slips my mind. I will be on vacation till Saturday, but I will post the results next week for others who may experience similiar problems. Thanks!
