4200 Cable Modem - is there an authentication process 1

Is there an authentication process in the Surfboard 4200 cable modem? Cable ISPs such as AOL require an authentication process (user name and password). With such ISPs authentication is done with a "dialer" on the PC, however, this authentication process does not allow home networking with routers without assigning one PC as a server.

AOL authenticates through its software, if your ISP gave you anytype of software for their network, you may need to install it, as for the Motorola Modem, it does not preform any authentication procedures.
